On October 12th, Hispanidad Day is celebrated. According to historians, October 12, 1492 was the day that Cristóbal Colón arrived in America. This day has different names in each country. For example, in Spain it was formerly called “Día de la Raza”, an antiquated wordpress web design agency name, loaded with harm and which is based on the purpose of closing, which is a day to celebrate Spanish language and culture. For these reasons it was changed to “Día de la Hispanidad”. In Argentina, the “Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity” is celebrated; in Nicaragua, “Indigenous Resistance Day” is celebrated; It could be “Día de Colón”, “Fiesta Nacional”, etc. Despite several names, it is a historic event celebrated in all Spanish-speaking countries. Normally it's a holiday and people aren't at work. There are military parades, with lots of banderitas, there is music, dancing, special foods like paella, and other customs. There is another point of view on this celebration, a little more political, which remembers it as the meeting of two worlds, but also the beginning of Spanish colonization. You can never forget what happened to the indigenous people with the arrival of Colón, Cortez and so many others, unfortunately. A sad side of history that, however, was important for the development of culture and that changed the world. So, you have to remember and celebrate!
